If the number of patients increases by 10% every year in Europe, then what is the difference between the number of patients in Europe after two years and the number of Kidney patients in South America in 2023?

Options

A

9 lakh

B

7 lakh

C

8 lakh

D

5 lakh

Correct Answer :

8 lakh

Solution :

The correct option is 8 lakh.

Step-by-step Explanation:

1. Find the total number of patients in the world in the year 2023:
According to the given passage, the total population of the world in 2023 is 800 crore, and 10% of them are patients.
Total patients in the world in 2023 is calculated as:
Total Patients = 10 % of 800 crore = 10 100 × 800 = 80 crore

2. Calculate the number of patients in Europe after 2 years:
From Table - II, Europe has 10% of all patients in the world in 2023.
So, the number of patients in Europe in 2023 is:
Patients in Europe (2023) = 10 % of 80 crore = 10 100 × 80 = 8 crore
If the number of patients in Europe increases by 10% every year, then after 2 years, the number of patients in Europe will be:
Patients in Europe after 2 years = 8 × 1 + 10 100 2 crore
= 8 × 1.1 2 = 8 × 1.21 = 9.68 crore

3. Calculate the number of Kidney patients in South America in 2023:
From Table - I, Kidney disease patients account for 30% of all patients in the world.
So, the total number of Kidney patients in the world is:
Total Kidney Patients = 30 % of 80 crore = 30 100 × 80 = 24 crore
From Table - II, South America accounts for 40% of the total Kidney patients.
Therefore, the number of Kidney patients in South America in 2023 is:
Kidney Patients in South America (2023) = 40 % of 24 crore = 40 100 × 24 = 9.6 crore

4. Compute the difference:
Now, find the difference between the number of patients in Europe after 2 years and the number of Kidney patients in South America in 2023:
Difference = 9.68 crore - 9.6 crore = 0.08 crore
Since 1 crore is equal to 100 lakh, we convert the difference to lakhs:
Difference in Lakhs = 0.08 × 100 lakh = 8 lakh
Thus, the difference is 8 lakh.
